Champions of the Men’s Division are the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies



Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies gets the champion of “MNUSU Inter Faculty Volleyball Tournament 2019” of Men’s Division organized by the Maldives National University’s Student Union by competing against the Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology in the finals. The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies won the final match by 3 sets 2 sets. Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology reached the finals for the first time in history without getting defeated by any of the matches they played in this tournament. To reach the finals Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology have defeated Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Law and Islamic Studies and also the champion team Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies in the group stage matches. And in the Semifinals Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology defected School of Nursing. Meanwhile Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies was only lost one match which was played against Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology. And they got qualified for the finals by winning the semifinal match by 3 sets 1 set against Center for Foundation Studies.

Final match was a game full of intense. Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies won first set of the Men’s final with a score of 23-25. And Faculty of Engineering, Science and technology took the lead of the game by winning the second and third set with a score of 22-25 and 18-25. Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies ties the sets by winning the fourth set with a score of 26-28. At the fourth set Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies won against Faculty of Engineering, Science and technology with 08-15 with a final score of 3 sets 2 sets. Jersey number 1 Mohamed Hussain of Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies won the man of the match title of Men’s Division final match.

Total 8 teams took part in the Men’s division. Jersey number 02 of Center of Foundation studies Mohamed Shamveel, jersey number 08 of School of Nursing Ibrahim Hameed, jersey number 11 of Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies Ahsham Ibrahim, jersey number 12 of Center of Foundation Studies Hussain Shah, jersey number 03 of Faculty of Engineering, Science and technology Abdullah Naafiu and jersey number 06 of Faculty of Engineering, Science and technology Mohamed Adam was selected among the best 6 players of the Men’s Division. Jersey number 01 of Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies Mohamed Hussain was selected as the Best player of Men’s Division.

Certificate of achievement and awards to the top 6 players was handed out by the former captain and the setter of the Maldives National Volleyball team Mr. Fathuhullah Waheedh. And the award and the certificate for the best player of the whole Men’s Division was awarded by Faculty of Health Science Lecturer Mr. Mohamed Zaid.

Medals and trophy to the runners-up team was awarded and distribute by Vice- Chancellor of MNU Mr. Ali Fawaaz Shareef. And medals and trophies for the champion team was handed out by the Vice-Chancellor and the chief guest for the ceremony Managing Director of Fuel Express Maldives Mr. Mohamed Shihaab. In addition to this Faculty of Education volunteered to award a trophy to the champion teams and those awards were handed out Vice President Activity, Ms. Kaleemath Aakifa Rasheedh.

All trophies and medals for the MNUSU Inter Faculty Volleyball Tournament were sponsored by Fuel Express Maldivies.
