Faculty of Hospitality & Tourism Studies has begun their 2020 MNUSU Inter Faculty Volleyball Tournament practices. They enlisted one team for each division.  

The MNUSU Inter Faculty Volleyball Tournament is a tournament held by the Maldives National University Students’ Union. This tournament is open to all of the faculties in the MNU. Last year FHTS Men’s Division had beaten FEST in the Finale and had won the Champions title.

The Men’s Division Volleyball team, began their practices on the 15^th of February 2020 under the guidance of Coach Schifaq & Coach Ariz Mohamed in order to defend their title as the Champions of the MNUSU Inter Faculty Volleyball Tournament 2019.

While Coach Schifaq did help the team out a lot, he would not be named the official coach of the team. This decision was made due to his busy schedule within the tournament week. Therefore only Coach Ariz would be seen in the bench with the FHTS Men’s Volleyball Team. Coach Ariz had won the best promising player award in the year 2018, He is also part of the Maldives National Volleyball Team.

In an interview, last year’s FHTS men’s division team captain Mohammed Hussain had mentioned “that no matter what this year’s team would come out to play their best and defend the title.” He had also asked from the supporters to do their best as well.

While the FHTS Men’s Team is preparing for another successful tournament, the Women’s team began their practices on the 16^th of February 2020 with Coach Suhanaa Ahmed leading them. Coach Suhanaa had won the best setter award of Maldives from the year 2005 to 2012. She had also played as a captain in the Maldives Police Service Volleyball Team. 

On the 23^rd of February 2020 both the teams had also attended a theory class taken by the coach Ariz Mohamed. In this theory class they discussed about the rules and regulations of the game.

According to the female team’s manager Mohamed Himyaan, This year’s practices started with a lot of promising players and they are indeed sure of winning the title of Champions for the FHTS.
