The first match played on Friday morning where MNUBS played against FE was won by MNUBS by 2 sets to 1. The first set was won 09-25 easily by MNUBS. Following this, FE fought back to win a tight second set 23-25. However, BS confirmed victory by winning the last set 08-15 effortlessly. Player of the match was won by jersey number 12 of BS, Inasa Abdulraheem. With this win BS guaranteed a spot in the semi-finals.
Second match played on Friday morning was FHS against CFS. FHS had a smooth win with sets 17-25 and 16-25. Both teams have competed in the semi-final last year as well where FHS won again. The player of the match was won by jersey number 16 Aminath Nizam from FHS.
The last match played Friday morning where FHTS competed with FEST was won by FHTS with two smooth straight sets 12-25 and 18-25. For both the teams this was the last appearance for the rest of the tournament. Player of the match was awarded to FHTS’s jersey number 7 Nareema Idrees.
The remaining matches of the group stage in the men’s division are scheduled to be played today at 2 p.m. whereas semi-final matches of the women’s division are scheduled for 8 p.m. tonight.
In the semi finale of the women’s division, previous years’ runner-up team FHS will be competing with the champions BS. Moreover, winners of group A, SN will be playing against CFS which was placed second in group B.
MNUSU Inter Faculty Volleyball Tournament 2020 is MNUSU’s 5th such tournament. The first was held in 2016 and this is the second biggest tournament conducted by MNUSU. This tournament which is opened up for the faculties/centers of MNU had 8 teams in the women’s division and 7 teams in the men’s division with a total of 15 teams taking part this year. The tournaments sponsor is Fuel Express Maldives and online partner is Raajje mv.
