MNUSU Exco and MNU DVC met FEST students



Students from the faculty of engineering science and technology met with the executive committee of MNUSU and the deputy vice chancellor of MNU to voice out their concerns about the problems faced at FEST.

The meeting which was held at 4pm in the evening at central administration auditorium on the 8th of august 2018, was attended by numerous students studying at the Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology. It was noted that the majority of the students at the meeting were students studying bachelor of civil engineering. The students had shared their concerns with the President of MNUSU mister Arushad Ashraf and deputy vice chancellor of MNU Madam Aishath Shaaheen. This was instigated after a group of agitated students raised their concerns in the ESTA Viber group on the 7th of august.

Some of the concerns that were shared include concerns about the class scheduling, clashes in modules, some maintenance concerns, concerns about the mandatory academic trips and concerns about lack of equipment and space within the faculty. The DVC had given reassurances that steps would be taken to improve the current condition. Furthermore, she had also shared information about the steps that the MNU central administration were taking, in order to improve the university experience of students. One of the steps includes the steps the administration was taking in order to provide fast and free Wi-Fi to all MNU campuses. The DVC had also assured that updates about the measures the central administration would be shared as well.

Furthermore, students with concerns about the student union’s expenses were also given the opportunity to visit the student union office and to examine all budget reports of 2018. After this golden opportunity was presented, a student from 4th semester of bachelor of civil engineering had visited the union office and had examined the budget reports and had cleared all doubts about the unions budget from the MNUSU President Arushad Ashraf, Media Coordinator Mohamed Shaan Amir and Treasurer Abdullah Shahuneez on the 7th of august after some students made a few baseless accusations about the student union. Late that night the student had also stated in the ESTA Viber group that he did not find anything out of the ordinary and dispelled all the accusations.
