Debate competition continues into the second day



MNUSU Inter Faculty Debate Competition organized by the Maldivian National University Students’ Union (MNUSU) 2019 has started.

The competition consisting of the faculties of the Maldivian National University include 12 teams from 7 different faculties. In contrast to other editions of the competition where each faculty is given the chance for just 1 team, this year’s edition gave the chance for faculties to participate a maximum of 2 teams.

The competition which started on 26th August has proceeded with 2 debates while another 2 was held today.

The third debate of the competition featured Faculty of Law and Islamic Studies (FLIS) team A and the Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) team A with FLIS team A getting the edge with a score of 596 points. The best debater of this match was Aishath Zahaa from Faculty of Law and Islamic Studies (FLIS).

The 4th debate of the first round of this competition was held between School of Nursing (SN) and MNU Business School (MNUBS). Business school won this debate taking 689 points while SN only got to accumulate 657 points. The best debater of the match was Fathimath Maasha from Business School who scored an astonishing 303 points, the highest so far in the competition by an individual.

The 6 teams to win the first round of the debate competition will be competing in the second round.

The second round contain 3 matches where the 3 winners will be categorized. The winner who acquires the highest points will directly go through to the finals while the other 2 winners will compete in a semifinal match.
