Faculty of law and Islamic Studies have secured a spot in the finals by scoring the highest points in the second round of MNUSU Debate competition 2019.
Seven competitive debates took place in the second round. The night’s first debate took place between Faculty of Education (FE) A team and A team of Faculty of Arts (FA). Faculty of Arts (FA) A team secured a spot in the semifinals by winning the match with a total of 819 points. The best debater of this debate was Mohamed Raaid saeed of Faculty of Arts.
Second debate of the night was between Faculty of Law and Islamic Studies (FLIS) and last years champion MNU Business School (MNUBS). Faculty of Law and Islamic Studies (FLIS) A team won this debate with a small difference of 5 points with a score of 857. The best debater of this debate was Aishath Zaha of the Faculty of Law and Islamic Studies. FLIS A Team secured a spot in the finals by winning the highest points in the completion.
Last debate of the night was between FLIS B team and the FE B team. FLIS B team won this match with a score of 835 and secured the last spot in the semifinals. Aiminath Nasooha and Ahmed Thoil of FLIS were selected as the best debaters of the tournament.
The semifinal of the tournament will be held on 30 August.
